It may not make any actual difference, but psychologically it could matter. I think when Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow or didn’t see his shadow or whatever he does on February 2nd, we’re supposed to have 6 more weeks or winter or something like that. I’ve often wondered how there couldn’t help but be a shadow with all those TV lights cast on him.
Anyway, as far as I’m concerned today is the last day of winter. Tomorrow we go into daylight savings time, so why not consider that the start of spring? To my recollection, it’s never happened this early in the year before, but why not get an early start on spring?
Spring signals new birth, growth, opportunity, fresh starts. Hurrah for spring – even if we jump the gun a little.
