No not that kind of walking the dog as in exercising your pet. I’m talking about a yo-yo trick that many of us tried to master in earlier days.
Do you remember playing with yo-yos? Those spinning hemispheric disks connected by a small dowel onto which a string is attached?
So, could you do it? Walk the dog? Not me. If I could get the yo-yo to go to the end of the string and come back 2 or 3 times I was satisfied.
Do you realize that there is a world championship for yo-yos? That is world championship with 18 countries involved.
I'm staying in the same hotel in Orlando where this is happening this weekend, and I have never seen so many young people (mostly) walking, talking, gathering, standing around, eating, and dancing - all with yo-yos going in various directions - and all under control.
I am seeing people with as many as 2 yo-yos (one in each hand) making their yo-yos perform at command – going different directions, criss-crossing strings, and still continuing to spin, I have seen people practicing their choreography while spinning their yo-yos.
That’s what years of practice and dedication will do. There definitely is skill involved.
