The first exciting week of March Madness has concluded. This is the week that college basketball fans look foward to all year. Teams that have already been knocked out of the competition are talking about getting back to the Big Dance next year.
Sixty-eight teams began the tournament earlier this week, and by tonight just 16 - the "Sweet Sixteen" - remain.
There have been a few surprises and a few upsets. One number one seed (Gonzaga) is out, and for the first time, a number 15 (Florida Gulf Coast) seed is still in. I think they were propbably underestimated, but it makes good drama. BTW, Miami is still in after a close contest with Illinois.
The lesson is that we have to be ready, and that we don't always get a lot of time to prepare for each encounter. Between the second round games and the third round, there was only one full day - and they didn't know until then who their opponent would be for sure.
